Samhain: Jack O'Lanterns

It's October, and that means you can't go too many places without seeing pumpkins, at least if you live in North America. They're everywhere, and often they're carved into scary, silly or elaborate images. But really, let's think about this -- it's a big fat vegetable. At what point was the Legend of Sleepy Hollow written? Depending on when that story originated, it may have contributed to the Jack O Lantern legend.
