Reader Needs Help: Have You Seen This Item?
Sunday June 22, 2008
Blog reader Sharon writes in with a puzzler, and I know someone out there can probably help her. She says, "I am looking for a book and a plastic fold out spread sheet. The cards used was an ordinary deck of playing cards. The book was about 9 x 9 inches (approximate) with a sort of red cover. The spread sheet folded out and you place the deck of cards on it after shuffling. There were different rows with symbolic names (houses) The meanings were explained in the book. There were also other tidbits of information in the book; such as some numerology, meanings of colors, etc. I used to have this book and worksheet but it was lost in a move. I can not remember the author, name of the book, or who published it."
Does this ring a bell with anyone? Chime in over in the Comments section, and let's see if we can help Sharon find this nifty little divination kit!

Sharon,
It might be worth a try to contact Isis Books and gifts they are the nation’s largest occult supply shop and they may knowhow to aquire that item for you.
http://www.isis.com
it maybe worth a shot.
First off it would be nice if the first person that tried to help gave the right website link to help the woman.
Here is the correct link to ISIS books
http://www.isisbooks.com
Amazon might have it as well.
Could it be the Gong Hee Fot Choy fortune telling game, by Margaret Ward, copyrighted on 1938? It uses an ordinary playing card deck; 9’s – aces (32 cards total). The cards are laid out on a yellow, fold out cardboard board. Each slot on the board represents a “house” such as Seasons, Luck, Success, etc… The reading usually reflects one ’season’ for timing. It was my mother-in-law’s favorite form of divination and pretty darn good, I enjoy using it with others as something different.
It sure sounds like the Gong Hee Fot Choy Tells Your Fortune (Paperback)
by Margarete Ward – here’s an Amazon link to it.
I’m trying the link again – something didn’t go just right.
Hope this works…
You might try Amazon.com. I’ve gotten out of print books, etc. there.
She could try this site http://tarot.llewellyn.com/
I have found a lot off the books that I was looking for thare.and they do have a large section on taro and numerology

patti
Thanks for the info — the book is now on my wish list!
Yay! I’m so glad you guys figured it out!
I wanted to mention that I’ve always had a knack for finding lost items for people, by giving them a hint or two of what I see, and I thought I’d mention to Sharon that I had some feelings that it wasn’t really lost, it feels like it’s still with her, just under something, like a table or a bed, but in a very dark room, sort of dusty, maybe an attic? it feels like the room is unfinished, so an attic or a basement of some kind would be my best guess… in a short box, or between floor boards, but definately sitting between something. it’s face down, from what i can see, so it may be hard to see, and possibly covered with another book or a flat piece of fabric or paper. it feels like what ever covering it is green…
I may be completely off the mark, but it might help. hope so!
Good luck, sharon!

Yes, the book actually was lost along with a lot of my stuff (due to an unfortunate marriage). The good news is I now have gotten an original 1938 copy (hard bound yet!) and a 1948 paper back version of the Gong Hee Fot Choy. I got both copies off e-Bay as the ones on Amazon were extremely expensive (one was $132) and newer versions. I thank all of you for your assistance in this matter! Blessings on all who assisted me.
I’ve never posted anything anywhere – but I was so taken to read Silver Thunderbirds response to the readers lost Gong Hee Fot Choy book. Sharon – that was incredibly kind to offer your gift to her! I selfishly wanted to ask you if you had any thoughts as to where I lost a ring gifted to me almost 2 years ago – at exactly this time of year. I was told it was Egyptian – it’s got an ornate silver band and holds a blue scarab looking stone. I owned it for less than a month before it absolutely vanished. I’ve been looking for it since January 2007.
By the way, I also own the Gong Hee Fot Choy and really respect Margaret Ward for sharing it with us all!
Have a wonderful day! If I don’t hear from anyone I will completely understand. I’ve just never done this before.
Kindest,
Nicole
i have a brand new 1948 book and board 150.00
Yes , I have 2 copies of the books, it is called Gong Hee Fot Choy , tells your fortune using a reg deck of cards
FYI I was looking for this book as well, since mine is very worn from use. I just found the new 3rd edition in hard cover, with the fold-out board for $15.95 on Random Books website. If you have a local Psychic Eye Store you could also try there, that is of course unless youreally want the older version.
