What's On My Altar
The large orange candle in the center represents the sun, and there are pine and fir boughs on the altar as well. My Yule tree is lit up in the background. We also have my Nordic Santa statues out, in which Santa is portrayed as a woodsman of the north country.
How I Celebrated Yule
This altar was used for my coven's 2008 Yule ritual. After telling a story about the holly, the pine and the fir (and why they're the only ones that remain green at the winter solstice), we lit a white candle for each member of the group. As we did so, we offered each other our blessings for 2009.
Tips and Tricks
- Using candles? Be careful when you set them up around real pine boughs -- those things will burn fast!
