What's On My Altar
Photos of the deceased; Pictures of the gods of my tradition: Ah Puch,God of Death and Mictecacihuatl, Queen of the Underworld. Black and white candles, representation of the four elements; red, white and black ribbon from the ritual; paper flowers as offerings; favorite treats for my dead ones: candies, for my grandfather, sugar skulls for my friend and eggnog for my grandmother.
How I Celebrated Samhain
I prepared the altar to honor my dead and consecrated it, inviting the spirits of those who have passed on to come and stay at my home for a while, offering them some treats that they liked while living. I performed the ritual To Celebrate the Cycle of Life and Death in solitary and now I have my altar to remind me of those who have gone before me.
