What's On My Altar
This altar contains photos of my family members and friends that have died. A Frida Kahlo doll that I made sits in the back corner with all of her dolls, corn and pumpkins that I have grown are placed around the back, dried roses that I bought for the Equinox and petals that are falling I put into a bowl on the altar. Buddist prayer flags are drapped on the back wall along with some Our Lady of Guadalupe altar pieces that I made. Also some 7 day candles to light up the altar. I also have store bought Day of the Dead cards and magazine pages of Skeletons laid on the altar
How I Celebrated Samhain
I make and altar and light candles. I honor family and friends with a blessing that I find on the computer. I enjoy cooking some harvest foods and making bread. I talk to my family and friends about Day of The Dead. I attend an Altar Show that is held in Rememberence of the people and ideas we have loved and lost.
I make cards and gifts to share with loved ones.
Tips and Tricks
- I use 7 day candles because they are safe and I don't want to worry about starting a fire.
- I have been in many altar shows and I have celebrated Dia De Los Muertos in many ways with the blessing of the altars to musical tribute to honor the dead.
- Sometimes I go out into the forest and dance around in the moon light or star light.
- I have given classes on writing altar meanings and I have participated in classes on doll making for altars
