18 - The Moon

The Moon is the card of sleep and dreams, in which our intuition guides our body, mind, and spirit.

The Moon watches over the land, in three different phases. Far below, a pair of towers stand as man's protection against the hostile environment. The wolf howls below, a symbol of untamed nature, while the dog beside him represents man's ability to control what is around him. The moon will lead the traveler up the path to enlightenment, if he will only listen to his inner voice.

When the Moon appears in a Tarot spread, look for development of latent psychic abilities. The Moon is intuition and imagination, but can also represent hidden messages and deception. Things are not always as they seem, so trust your instinct.

Reversed, this card reminds us that our imagination can be harnessed and tamed by the practical. Risks should be avoided, but ride out the storm and peace will be attained.
