This phenomenon (sometimes abbreviated as UPG) often found in contemporary religions is the concept that one person's spiritual insights, while right for them, may not apply to everyone. In other words, while Bill may have one sort of spiritual experience, Bob may have a completely different one. Neither is more valid than the other, because of the personal nature of the gnosis. Typically, the term is used to present a hypothesis. If a number of people on the same spiritual path share similar experiences independently of one another, it may be regarded as a Shared Personal Gnosis. The sharing of gnosis is sometimes accepted as a possible verification, but rarely a definite one.
