Self-Initiation

By Patti Wigington, About.com

Definition:

The term self-initiation is a bit misleading, but is used frequently in books on Wicca. By its very nature, an initiation must involve at least two people, so it really can’t be done to oneself. However, a self-dedication may be done by a solitary Wiccan or Pagan who wishes to pledge him- or herself to the gods.

Also Known As: Self-dedication
Examples:
When Willow first discovered Wicca, she performed a self-initiation ceremony in which she dedicated herself to the gods.
