Offering

By Patti Wigington, About.com

Definition:

Many Pagans and Wiccans make sacrifices to their gods. An offering may be anything given from the heart – time, love, trust, dedication – or it can be a material object such as stones, coins, jewelry, or food.

Although offerings are not always necessary, in many traditions to make an offering is to show respect and honor to the divine. Sometimes they are included with a prayer.

Also Known As: Sacrifice
