Place the stone in the center of your work area, with the candles on either side of it. Light the candles. Have the child close his eyes and focus his intent -- in really small children, or those unfamiliar with Craft practices, this can be explained by having them picture their courage as a ball of light in their favorite color.
Ask your child, What would you do if you were more courageous?Listen to his answer. Ask the child, If you had more courage, do you think you would be happier? Listen to his answer. Tell him, I love you as you are, but I want you to be happy. Because I love you, I am going to let that love protect you, and help your courage grow. Draw energy to you, and encourage the child to do the same, focusing on courage the entire time. Say, Someone with courage stands up to those who mistreat them. Someone with courage always speaks the truth. Someone with courage is someone that others respect and look up to. Place the stone in the child's hand, and close his fingers around it. Hold your hands over his, so your energy combines. Say, Imagine yourself as a lion. You are stalking through the tall grass, and other animals admire and respect you. They honor your courage and your strength. Focus this blended energy into the stone. Tell the child, You are the king of the jungle, and you are the lion. You have strength and you have honor. You are brave and loyal. You are the lion. Encourage him to roar like a lion -- this is hugely empowering, and fun too -- as much as he likes. Take the needlenose pliers and bend the jewelry wire around the stone. Leave a loop at the top, and thread the cord of chain through it. Place the necklace over the child's head, and say, With my love I give you this blessing. From my heart to yours, be brave, be strong, and be yourself. You are indeed a lion, and you have nothing to fear.
