For our Northern Hemisphere readers, Imbolc is a reminder that spring is coming soon, and that we only have a few more weeks of winter to go. The sun gets a little brighter, the earth gets a little warmer, and we know that life is quickening within the soil. Among some early agricultural societies, this time of year was marked by the preparation for the spring lambing, after which the ewes would lactate (hence the term "ewe's milk" as "Oimelc"). At Neolithic sites in Ireland, underground chambers align perfectly with the rising sun on Imbolc.
In some traditions, this is the festival of Brighid, the Irish hearth goddess. She is the protector of home and family, the patron of healers and bards, and is associated with creativity and inspiration.
May you and yours have a bountiful and blessed Sabbat!

Happy Imbolc to everyone and greeting to a sisters and brothers in the Southern Hemisphere…Love & Blessings!
Happy Imbolc, everyone! I don’t know how many people here are Doctor Who fans, but I thought I’d share a little connection I made. I remember reading somewhere that all dairy foods (including custard) are traditional for this holiday, and that–due to the scarcity of meat this time of year–fish was also culturally relevant. With that connection in mind I decided to add the Doctor to my Imbolc celebration, so tomorrow night my sister and I will be eating fish fingers and custard. I hope others have fun with this!
Blessed Imbolc to you all!!!
