After a brief few days of spring-like weather, January has returned to my neck of the woods with a vengeance. This month's full moon is aptly named the Cold Moon. The air is cold and crisp, and there's a light layer of frost on everything in the morning. These are the days when it's tempting to just burrow in under a blanket, and not come out for a few weeks. For some Native American tribes, this was called the wolf moon, because it was when the wolves got hungry and sat outside your village howling.

Correspondences for this month include colors of the night, like black and silver and white. Hematite ties in this month for your gemstone workings, and deities to honor include Janus, Freyja, and Inanna.

During the time of the cold moon, consider workings related to protection of both the home and the spirit. If you're cooped up in the house because of the bad weather, then use this time to work on spritual growth and development. Reconnect with your inner self and your deities.
