This is the time of year when many of our Southern Hemisphere readers are planning their plantings. Have you ever thought about planting flowers that bloom just at night? Yeah, sounds a bit odd, but it's glorious to look at (and smell) when it's done right. Try cultivating a Magical Moon Garden as a way of getting in touch with lunar energies. This not only looks beautiful, it provides a nice backdrop for evening rituals during the summer.

hi patti,
i have a problem that i was hoping you could help me with. my mother is completely against wicca and i believe that i am supposed to follow the wiccan ways. my cousin first told me that i was destined to follow wiccan ways in my freshman yr. in high school. it is now my senior yr and the battle with my mom is ongoing. i was wondering also if you could help me learn more about wicca, and teach me some basics. this is something i feel strongly about. and would verymuch love to be able to call myself a wiccan. thank you very much for your time.

Hi Susan! A couple of things here — if your mom is against your practicing Wicca, and you live in her home, then you should wait until you’ve moved out before you begin practicing. I’d recommend reading My Parents Don’t Want Me to Be Wiccan for some suggestions on how to deal with this.
In the meantime, while you’re still living under your parents’ roof, there are plenty of other things you can learn and study that will help you later on, if you still feel that you wish to study and learn about Wicca or other Pagan faiths: Ten Things To Study In Addition to Wicca
Finally, it’s very unlikely that any reputable teacher would be willing to take on an underage student whose parents are opposed to Wicca. There’s plenty of information available — and a ton on this website! – that is there so everyone can learn it. Relax, take your time, learn some new things, and eventually you’ll be at a point in your life where you can begin practicing

My fave place for garden essentials is bonsai outlet because they not only have all the mouthwatering stuff to achieve bonsai beauty, but they also have everything I could need (and want) for my other gardening ventures. I love the community, the accessible advice…and having a place to spend money while saving money! LOL!
Great Post!

When would you start planting these plants? What soil do I buy? How do you grow a garden? Where do you put the garden? Mine I think will have to go alongside the apartment building cause kids play in the yard.
