Zsuzsanna Budapest, who has been at the forefront of the feminist Wiccan movement, has a birthday today! In addition to being the founder of Dianic Wicca, Budapest is also the author of a dozen or so books on modern Goddess-centered religions, including the groundbreaking Holy Book of Women's Mysteries.
Interestingly, Z was arrested back in 1975 after reading Tarot cards for an undercover police officer. Although she lost the trial, she was able to turn the experience around and help fight to get laws against psychics removed from the books. She is a tireless activist, teacher, lecturer and role model for thousands of Pagans around the world.
