Newt: Gay Marriage = Paganism OMG

You know, it's so easy to laugh at Newt Gingrich it's like we don't even have to try anymore. His latest ridiculous statement, brought to us courtesy of HuffPo, is that gay marriage is kind of as bad as paganism from back in old-timey Biblical days.

Newt, who has several marriages under his belt and a whole lotta infidelity, thinks that letting two people who love each other get married is Just Plain Rong, and that's why he's supporting the Defense of Marriage Act. He said, "It's pretty simple: marriage is between a man and a woman. This is a historic doctrine driven deep into the Bible, both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament, and it's a perfect example of what I mean by the rise of paganism. The effort to create alternatives to marriage between a man and a woman are perfectly natural pagan behaviors, but they are a fundamental violation of our civilization."

That's right, because while it is okay to hold the rest of America to a bunch of very restrictive sexual standards, it is not okay to expect Newt and his current wife, Callista, to follow those guidelines. Callista, who is pretty vocally anti-gay marriage herself, prides herself on being a staunch Catholic - so staunch that she had a six-year affair with Newt while he was married to his last wife. But whatever! Commandments are only for politicians to break, not you voting gay Pagan people!!

But seriously, Newt Gingrich, in addition to being a homophobe and a bigot, seems to use the word "paganism" as a catch-all to define Anything Newt Doesn't Approve Of.

In a statement supporting the Iowa Family Leader's controversial "Marriage Vow" pledge, Gingrich said, "I also pledge to uphold the institution of marriage through personal fidelity to my spouse and respect for the marital bonds of others." Which apparently was a typo, because it should have said "I also pledge to uphold the institution of marriage through personal fidelity to my spouse and respect for the marital bonds of others as long as they are totally heterosexual and Christian." There you go, Newt. Fixed that for you.

I read the article this morning and was offended on so many levels. Not only does he paint homosexuality in a negative way (totally expected from an idiot like him)…he also tries to paint paganism as a negative scarey thing. What a total hypocritical bigot.

I apologize to the lgbt and pagan communities that have to deal with the lies of these narrow minded fools.

The mere thought of someone like this fool running my country disgusts me.This isn’t my country or yours,it belongs to Gov. and stupid laws.
It makes me sick to hear people call it a free country, theres nothing free about it.

Despite being Pagan, bisexual, and completely out about both, I’m not offended by this. It’s ridiculously hilarious that this man thinks he’ll get the nomination with such a firm, yet entirely hypocritical, stance.
The only thing this makes me feel is a deep need to laugh and an almost horrendous amount of pity.
That, and his current wife looks like an owl. Not a bad thing, but that was another source of my laughter.

Don’t let your hilarity blind you, Fox, these are killer clowns. Remember, we thought Dubya was a clown who couldn’t get elected if he was running against a hat on a football.

That is so stupid, Newt!!!! :

A. Just because narrow minded people want to believe that someone who is not Jewish or Christian must be Pagan, simply DOES NOT MAKE IT SO.

B. In fact, NOT ALL of Civilization is Jewish or Christian (Old & New Testament preceding reference) so alternative perspectives DO EXIST WITHIN CIVILIZATION as VIABLE aspects, not violations, of CIVILIZATION… because Civilization encompasses more than a single religious or even non-religious community… it encompasses ALL SOCIETIES.

C. Personally, it never fails to behoove me that so-called Christian Family Values… that actively and aggressively denounce the freedom for all legal adults to wed whomever they choose… based upon a contention that only the union of opposite gender couples is “RIGHT” and yet simultaneously refuse to admit that they do not have a monopoly on “RIGHT”… in fact their so-called ‘righteous unions” are absolutely riddled with DIVORCE, INFIDELITY, PHYSICAL and EMOTIONAL ABUSE, and if that is not enough, it serves as the HISTORICAL BREEDING GROUND for CHILD ABUSE, wherein most children are sexual molested by THE OPPOSITE GENDER members of their MARRIAGES!!!!! So how dare they proclaim they are the only ones who can possibly do it right when they have such a horridly oppressive track record to prove otherwise!!!! And if a Gay marriage fails, so what? They are no more perfect than their fellow straight citizens!!!!

This man is such a totally uptight bigot, You have to wonder what lies he told to get elected. All of his constituients can’t be that ill informed, at least not to his level. He is against gay marriage, but as far as I can tell, he himself has broken 4 or 5 of the Ten Commandments, set forth by the Bible and his Christian beliefs He can’t even get heterosexual marriage right. And his up-tight Catholic wife? Who is uber religious, but committed adultery with him for 6 years before they were married? Hello! Seems to me he needs to work a little more on being a better person himself, and quit making such ignorant statements.
I guess pagans are next on his agenda for hatred and misunderstanding. Like most of us have to hide what we believe anyway. I, myself, am open about my beliefs. They are between me and my GOD and Goddess only.

His mother named him right – Newt. They live under rocks. He needs to crawl back under his.

Ave,
The newt sounds so friendly and welcoming! Here, a joke to help understand: A Jew in a concentration camp was asked by his friends why he read german newspapers, his reply:

The Paris one is nothing other then war,
The American one is nothing but factories
But the German one says we own all the banks and are taking over the world; thats great news!

From their perspective of the whole heaven/hell thing:
I mean really, would you rather go to Hel with your friends, or spend an eternity in Heaven with THOSE people who will probably still be raving, rabid crazies there too? Personally, my Atheist dad, Aristotle, and Ghandi are probably in the place they ironically call “hell” so guess where I am headed…

All we have to do is support Newt… yes, we neo/Pagans support Gay Marriage, yes, we have FUN at our rituals, yes, safe responsible sober wuv making can be quite the experience; why thank you newt for helping our cause!

;-p
