OK, well, they're not new, they're really really old, but they're new discoveries, and that's pretty amazing. The BBC reports that Egyptologist Dr. Sarah Parcak and her team have found seventeen previously unknown pyramids by analyzing images from satellites orbiting the earth. Although the satellites are hundreds of miles up in space, they're "equipped with cameras so powerful they can pin-point objects less than 1m in diameter on the earth's surface."
The BBC accompanied Dr. Parcak to Egypt to see if excavations could back up what the technology had shown the team. Originally, authorities weren't interested in her findings, but when she told them she had seen at least two new pyramids, test excavations were permitted. Archaeologists are now calling the site "one of the most important archaeological sites in Egypt."

How cool! It’s always nice to read good news on the blog.
I guess satellites are good for more than just satellite TV!!
I’ve always had the feeling that there’s ALOT more of old Egypt under all that sand! I’m glad they’re using all the modern tools to find it.
I bet Egypt has more connections with the other worlds more than we know. When they say “Ancient Egypt” that is probably an understatement!
