As was expected, Romania's witches were not happy about this whole thing. It appears that being a professional witch really isn't that lucrative in Romania, with the average fee being the equivalent of about $7 - 10 per consultation.
Liberal-Democrat MP Alin Popoviciu told reporters, "The bill angered many witches who threatened to cast a spell in order to make it fail. It seems they have succeeded." However, legislators who voted against the bill seemed less worried about hexing and more concerned that such a law might legitimize witchcraft.
Popoviciu isn't giving up, though. He said he'll "try to find another way to get it passed by parliament."
