I wanted to share something fun that I worked on this week. A while back I saw a lovely beaded wire Tree of Life pendant for sale. It was just beautiful, but a bit more expensive than I could really justify. So on my last excursion to the craft store, I picked up some jewelry wire and a tube of beads to see what I could do. I should note that I am not an experienced beader -- in fact, until now I had never really attempted anything like this at all.

Anyway, after about an hour (including ten minutes spent retrieving loose beads from the cat) I had a passably good Tree of Life pendant of my own. I added a silver chain and wore it the next day, and received a number of compliments -- if you'd like to make one of your own it's not that hard. I've added instructions here: Tree of Life Beaded Pendant. I'm planning on making one with copper wire as well, and using different shades of green for the leaves, but you could really do it in any color combination you like. Perhaps one using the colors of your tradition's deity? Or just for fun, blue wire with coppery beads for an Avatar-themed tree?

I love it! I raided my jewellery making kit and found copper wire and green beads. It is fiddly and there are plenty of beads on the floor.
