This is so cool that I'd love to see something like it in the United States. Over in Derbyshire, UK, an exhibit in a public park celebrated not just one faith, not just the mainstream ones, but a number of different religious beliefs that are represented in the area. Decorated stalls explaining Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Sikhism, Muslim, Baha'i and Pagan religions were on display, and were staffed by people who got a chance to educate passers-by about their faiths.
Organizer Janet Tristram said, "The idea was that people would be able to walk through the faith history of the world and, through that, see how diverse Derby is." The event is part of a larger project called Forum of Faiths, which aims to educate people about the diverse group of beliefs that are represented in Derbyshire today.

That’s cool! And Happy Thanksgiving, all!
Awesome!!!!
My University (University of Birmingham) has just hosted a similar event. Every day a different religious and ethnic group had a stall in the Guild of Students building and there were loads of different events, from Bangra drumming workshops to a Langar (community kitchen) feeding most of the Uni, hosted by the Sihk conciousness. It was great to see just how diverse my Uni is, and how accepting everyone was.
When you think about why the United States was formed, you think about a lovely melting pot of different people and beliefs. Tolerance being the glue that keeps us together peacefully. Now WHY doesn’t THIS STUFF happen in the US? ~sigh~
Hugh cheers for the UK for doing it right. This is awesome. I’d love to go from booth to booth talking to people of different faiths. If this were everywhere, it would help bring peace.
thats really cool. all cities and community should do that.
That is awesome.I wish U.S.A. citizens could be open and acceptant of other beliefs too.I know there are citizens out there that are respectful and open just wish there was more.
Yeay to them!! That’s what I have been saying needs to happen around many places here in the states for years! For all that it gets thrown around that we have freedom of religious choice and to embrace everyone, this is what needs to be the standard everywhere. Bless them. Hopefully we here can start taking a step to implement these displays!!!!
