June 10: Bridget Bishop Hanged in Salem
Wednesday June 10, 2009
On June 10, 1692, Bridget Bishop was the first person to be hanged in Salem, Massachussetts during the witch trials. Although there was no conclusive evidence that she practiced witchcraft, Bishop's flamboyant clothes and outspoken personality made her an easy target for prosecutors. Following her death, eighteen more people were hanged in Salem (and one pressed to death) before the witch hysteria died down. Bishop's descendants still live in New England today.

May the gods feed them honey.
Believing, as I do, in rebirth and renewal I trust that Bridget enjoyed the Summerlands and rebirth into a much more joyful life.
