This is so weird that at first, I honestly thought it was a joke from the folks at The Onion or someplace, but no, it's real. There's a fundamentalist group in Texas called Repent Amarillo that has put together a map, complete with little pushpins, so people can see where Really Bad Occulty Stuff is in their area. There's a coffee bar that's on the list because a Pagan meetup group hangs out there, plus the place is popular with the local gay community. A nature center made the list because it's a place where "peacenicks" go to worship in an "earth circle," along with a Reiki center, a couple of gay bars, some strip clubs, and a Hindu temple.
Repent Amarillo seems like a fun group. Here are some of the really evil stuffs they like to protest, according to their Mission Page: Gay pride events (surprise), "Earth worship events such as “Earth Day," breast cancer events like Race for the Cure (because they want to "to illuminate the link between abortion and breast cancer"), and spring break (which we all know is a tool of Satan anyway). They organize "outreaches" as part of their Spiritual Warfare, and go hang out in front of adult-themed businesses, in hopes of saving the sinners. They apparently sneak their members into such places, and if you play around on their website you can see photos of when they Infiltrated Teh Swingerz Club. Oh no! Naughty red walls! Freshly laundered sheets! Oh, the horror of it all... won't someone please protect the children from the Pagan coffee houses?
I think it's clear that humble Amarillo, Texas, is a hotbed of Pagan activity. Next thing you know, it'll spread to... oh, wait. We're everywhere already. Never mind.

Looked at their map. Now i wish they would come to my town. It would save me an awful lot of time and gas to find all the cool places to hang out at.
See, that’s what I thought too. If you had one of these Sinner Maps, you could figure out where you wanted to go before you left the house. Because really, just Googling “gay coffee house” gets me a lot of really weird hits.

Gods, Patti, your comments on this are hilarious. I want a map like this too!
OMG that is EXACTLY what I was going to say! Just this morning I tried to look up some sort of wicca-ey store in my town. I looked up occult, wicca, witch, and metaphysics in the phone book and found only 1 place!!! Let’s lobby for Repent Fort Collins! But seriously, wtf?!?!? Masonic lodges are on the list. George Washington, et al were masons! So are we going with Masons are Templars are Gnostics are Illuminatti are Pagans are Cathars are etc??? I need a program! HELP!!!!
I’m dying to see a Repent Ohio on there. I betcha they’d include stuff like the Great Serpent Mound (Pagan idolatry Oh Noez!) and the local Stonewall chapter. And totally the Ohio State University, because they offer partner benefits for same sex couples. Oh, and the giant Longaberger basket out on I-70, because it’s like Mecca for midwestern basket-collecting housewives.
Jeez, if I had more time, I’d start this up myself just for fun

Seriously, tell me about it. I laughed really hard when I saw this– Plus, I was thinking exactly the same thing! A “Repent Los Angeles County” would be pretty fabulous. The whole U.S. could repent! Then I’d always know where to go. I suppose it’s journey over destination, though. Hehe.
HAHAHA! I lived in Pampa for 6 years, moved back home to Canada in 2001. Dang, it almost makes me want to go back for a visit and see all this cool stuff!
P.S just in case no one knew, Pampa is an hour north of Amarillo. *Shrugs* clear up any confusion that I might have caused.
At first I thought this was dangerous, which it is. If some one who feel the need to violently react to those place shown on the map, it would be bad. At the same time…I kind of need them up here in New York, there are a lot of cool place, but I don’t know where they are. I would love to New York City repent. I think we might need.So hard not to laugh when re-reading the post above.
Oh could they please invade Each state? I imagine some of the maps would be as thick as a phone book! But How Fun it would be to have just such a map.
You know, I only live a few hour’s drive from Amarillo… My husband and his aunt always joke “Amarillo by mornin’” and apparently, they’ve been there quite a few times. I think this calls for a roadtrip to visit some of these unholy places!
Oh Patty anyone can find a “gay” coffee house but finding a “gay wiccan coffee house” now thats special.
I tried “gay Wiccan coffee house with abortion pamphlets and Earth Day recycling projects” just to narrow the Sin Field a bit, but that didnt’ get me much of anything that made sense

As much as I’d like to see a map like that of my town(complete with a rainbow push-pin on my yard), I still think these people are a bunch of twits.
Why? Because they cannot use an apostrophe correctly, and the whole breast cancer thing is so over the line.
They forget that all women can se effected by this terrible disease, regardless of “WIKKID PRO-CHOICE DEBILRY.”
Well, in the highly unlikely event that I ever find myself in Amarillo, at least I know where I need to go if I need porn. I like, too, that the 806 has clearly defined and advertised hours for witches and pagans. Imagine the embarrassment if you turned up at 4pm on a Friday or something. Still, when a group like this believes in protesting events trying to raise funds to cure breast cancer, I find it a bit difficult to find them completely comedic somehow…
Interesting notion. There are pros and cons to it, as with everything.
+ Free advertising for adult businesses, Pagan shops, “Compromised Church’s” (Engrish FAIL) and other places of interest.
- Members of the congregation harassing decent people who just want a cup of coffee and a Circle to dedicate their stash of porn to Eros.
-! Protesting breast cancer research. Oh, please. Link to abortion, my backside. I wonder if women who suffer the disease (it’s bound to happen, if it hasn’t already) are kicked out of this particular church. Seriously. My husband’s aunt had a mastectomy and radiation treatments for breast cancer – and she was an 87-year-old virgin, and a devout Catholic!
Final Verdict: FAIL
This is hilarious and scary at the same time. I am from Canyon, born and raised (15 miles south of Amarillo) and this is ridiculous. I am not “pagan”, wiccan or anything like that but I do believe that we all have a right to believe in whatever we want to. It’s actually kind of scary and just so you all know, Amarillo isn’t too happy about it either!!!! Now, if only more people would come out to oust this guy! Plus, now I know of some really interesting places to hang out that I didn’t know of before and meet some new, cool people. Way to go Repent Amarillo!!!
Well….they might better add all the Lowes to the list as well, as they allow “partner benefits” too…..I was impressed to hear it(daughter works there) But I too, would love a map…..reckon they got one for Mississippi??? Or….maybe we should make a map….of “churchy” places to “avoid”???? hee hee hee;)
Unfortunately, I live in Amarillo. Honestly, this is all a little embarrassing. While I would not call myself a wiccan (or really anything else) I do believe and practice some of the same things. I do feel kind of bad for these people, though, and their families. Think of how terrified they are. And how insecure they are in their beliefs. *sigh* Oh well, what are you gonna do? Hopefully this will kind of die out or at least stop being such a big deal.
I notice that on their website they don’t list any contact or location information for Repent Amarillo. Also check their link page some have had to post messages that they are not and have never been affilated with repent amarillo, due to repent amarillo linking to them.
I am Pagan, and live in Amarillo. Repent Amarillo has caused alot of discussions around here. I think these “warriors” need to leave people and places around here alone. There is not one place that has been marked on that map that causes problems for anyone. I am part of the group Earth Circles (online) and I keep planninng on going to the Pagan Coffee they have every Saturday, but I have a hard time meeting people. So I keep missing the meetings and plan on going the next week, I am so PISSED off about Repent Amarillo, that maybe it has given me the push I need to finally go. So… Thank You Repent Amarillo, for the push.
I live in Amarillo and I am A swinger and a pagan…
This jerk is looking for a name for himself at the price of hurting others in the community. My friends have been posted on websites, others have received nasty emails because he “hacked” into our yahoo group.
It scares me because at some point in the protesting and demostrating some one is going to end up seriously hurt.
How do you get the Human right groups involved?
He is playing dirty- The shut down a theater here due to his complaints- Avenue 10
Where does it end?
After seeing the maps page on their site and visiting one of the locations, The 806 is now my favorite hangout.
Thanks, Repent Amarillo!
you people love baby rapest! thats right some of them were their. look at site

Well, gee, Stred, I looked back through all the comments above, and I didn’t see anyone approving of pedophila. That’s an entirely different story, and not what Repent Amarillo is protesting — ANYONE would protest pedophiles.
What RA is doing is trying to is shut down anyone who does things they disapprove of. Don’t try to make this out like Repent Amarillo’s prime motivation is to save these innocent kids — they’re too busy furthering their anti-gay, anti-Pagan, anti-sex agenda.
And I should point out that the group referenced in the news article is not the swingers club for consenting adults that RA had their big “spiritual warrior” march in front of.
Frankly, I think everyone here supports the prosecution of child molesters to the fullest extent of the law. Some of us even support the death penalty for them, so you need to take your misguided sense of outrage somewhere else and put it to use.

I live near Amarillo, and i have heard of this group on the news. I think it is really funny and sad at the same time. From what I see is the most people here think along the same lines as this group. I watched the news and the owner of the coffee shop was begging to be taken off the list, because he was loosing a lot of business. I am of the Wiccan belief and love it. I find them to be the evil ones. Is long as someone is not hurting anyone else then why bother people?
