Samhain: Deities of Death

Although in modern society, we tend to give death a wide berth, in many cultures it was given a hearty respect. Nearly every ancient civilization includes in their myths and legends a god or goddess of death. Sometimes they were seen as a keeper of the Underworld, other times they were warriors that chose who lived and died in battlefield.
