Blood Moon on October 14!
Thursday October 9, 2008
It's hard to believe it but autumn is in full swing! The leaves are turning, at least here in the Midwest, and the nights are cool and crisp. On October 14, we'll see the full moon that folks call the Blood Moon, although the Native Americans called it the Falling Leaf Moon. This month's moon phase is a time to turn the focus inward and work on spiritual growth - after all, Samhain is approaching, and 'tis the season to get spiritual!
Color correspondences this month are all about darkness -- black, deep purples, and dark blue. The theme carries over into gemstones, with obsidian and amethyst being strongly connected to the Blood Moon. Deities to honor in October include the wilder aspects of the gods -- Herne and Cernunnos, Mercury, and Apollo. Take some time this month to connect with the moon, and feel its energy in your spirit. Do an autumn full moon rite, or consider holding a seance, doing a bit of divination, or just celebrating the end of the harvest.
