Magical Mondays: Arrow!

How would you use an arrow for magic?

Welcome back to Magical Mondays! This week's item was one I spent part of the weekend playing with - I attended an outdoorswoman workship, and learned how to shoot. I am ferocious with the compound bow, lemme tell you. If I ever run into a big foam circle in the woods, I'll be prepared to shoot at it.

If you're new to Magical Mondays, here's how it works. Each Monday I'll post a photo of an item -- and the catch is, that it's *not* going to be a traditional magical object. No crystals, herbs, or other things typically associated with spellwork or magic. The idea is to see how many magical uses we can come up with for the item. No right answers, no wrong answers, just sharing ideas. Post your suggestions in the Comments section, and see what other readers have to say as well!

To see previous editions of Magical Mondays, you can read here: Magical Mondays. Last week's not-so-magical item was a calculator, and the suggestions were awesome, ranging from numerology workings to money spells to problem solving!

So this week's item is one that I see as having a lot of potential. I learned some basic archery skills this weekend, and it was a blast... but then I thought, how cool would it be to incorporate shooting an arrow into a magical working? Let's have a little leeway with this one; you can either use an actual arrow (as in an archery arrow), or you can use any other sort of arrow -- a drawing, a road sign, whatever. How would you use it?

To me Arrows say “go here, right here, and no detours!!!” so i’d use them in spells to get to the true cause of a problem, and directs my magic right at the source. or what about an Arrow Sigil that you could put on things to mark them as the target of your magic?

Right on, Ryan!
For me also arrows, or bows and arrows, represent a different time, a different mindset. A time when everything was more connected and there was more personal responsibility. If you didn’t use them you didn’t eat or perhaps your home got sacked. Maybe use the arrow in conjunction with spells and rituals to remind yourself of such times and feelings.

how about meditating upon the arrow in flight for those days when you feel “stuck in the mud”. This could work for getting a new job venue or even if you’re just having a case of “stuck in a rut” syndrome to lift your spirits.

I think I might use the arrow to help focus my intention when I need to “hit the bullseye”. I’d use it when I need to do something exactly right – whether it be a serious conversation that needs to be had, or preparing taxes, lol.

Maybe you could consecrate the arrow, and use it to draw the circle for your ceremony’s, and other circles. You could use it as protection above your door way, with protection herbs and such hanging on strings, off the arrow. You think about arrows when ppl. needed them, to hunt and also to protect them selves.

To me an arrow sybolizes direction, Protection, defence, and offence.

An arrow could be used as a wand in a ritual or working to direct the energy of the spell/ceremony being conducted.
Or as a symbol of direction in a working.

Also an arrow could be used as a symbol of protection. An arrow charged with protective energy could be placed in a space to provid a protective barrier.

Furthermore, an arrow could be used as a symbol of a defensive energy/working/spell.
To defend against someone or something.

Finally, an arrow could be used as an offence against an attack/harmful energy/being.
an arrow charged with an offence type of energy could serve this purpose.

The GREAT Diana is most often rendered with bow-and-arrow, in-hand. In her aspect, the arrow would certainly symbolize strength, and confidence…She doesn’t mince words – - She is a “get it done,” Goddess..Anyone who has had Her knuckles on the top of their head, or Her ARROW in their behind will understand these comments…She’s a tough customer, but a loving Goddess none-the-less!

An arrow could be used in rituals calling upon or honoring Diana, the Goddess of the Hunt

I might use an arrow in love matters. Increasing the bond between myself and husband. Or you could use it to rid yourself of unwanted attention. there are a multitude of ways to use the arrow. Kudo’s to you Patti!

the arrow could be used to point out the way bk home from the spirtal plane or used to point in the direction you should use your magic(k)

I think the arrow is a wonderful tool and I wonder why I never used it. It could be placed on the end of a wand. It could be used to honor Athena. It could be used as a representation of south due to its power and strength or in the north since it has picked up so much of the earths energy. Odds are it was probabaly found in the earth left by some ancient Indian. That brings me to the last use it could be used in Native american or Shamanic workingss.

I would use it to become a “straight arrow”, to find my mark and to hit it straight on and with determination!

Stone tools are all that our earliest ancestors left behind to show where they had habitated. Very few people today can produce a point on the caliber of these ancient stashs.

I always wondered whether fire bow was first? And, then someone figured out you could fire a projectile?? Certainly the bow and arrow eased hunting travails, too. Killing from a distance made it a bit safer than killing with a hand thrown spear.

Warfare took a huge leap forward with bow and arrow. Now you could kill without being face to face with your enemy. English long bow is still legendary for it’s penetrating power at great distances. Bow armed calvary terroized all peacable peoples into extinction.

I would use an arrow when deadly accuracy and clarity in a situation was necessary. No mucking about, straight shot into heart of the matter, etc… To me it’s a very potent, strong, life and death symbol that’s reserved for serious work.

A arrow also stands for strengh and can lead you on your path, and help you find some one, and you can also use it in many other
ways. It can also lead you to the sourse you
need to know.
