Maine Rabbi Can Preach In Home
Tuesday August 26, 2008
The folks down in Florida's Indian Wells neighborhood should probably take a look at this: Maine Rabbi Wins Home Worship Appeal. Up in Portland, Maine, a rabbi was told to halt services in his home, because of parking concerns. However, a zoning committee has decided that he can continue with services, after residents "expressed fear that the city's interpretation of what constitutes a "place of worship" could have put home-based prayer groups at risk."
The services typically include about fifteen people, and usually attract five or six cars to the neighborhood.
