Hey, Look, Wiccans Are Normal

You know, there's so much badly done coverage of Wicca and Paganism out there, that I really do enjoy it when some reporter does a nice little human-interest story on practitioners of nature-based faiths in which we're shown to be just like everyone else. This week's offering comes from the Great Falls Tribune in Montana, in which writer Stacy Byrne demonstrates that Wiccans are basically normal people who just don't do the same stuff as everyone else. It does seem that around the Sabbats there tends to be an increase in the number of these articles, and it will definitely be nice when Pagan faiths are seen as so mundane that they don't even rate a story at all. I mean, can you imagine if someone wrote an article entitled "Meet the Jews Next Door" or "Your Hindu Neighbors Are Nice People"? I guess the idea of Wicca and Paganism isn't quite mainstream enough yet, but at least things are being portrayed in a mostly positive light. Nicely done piece from Ms. Byrne, who took the time to interview people from more than just one spiritual path.

Great article! I was impressed with how long it was - it was really well researched! Reading the comments posted beneath it was interesting - I thought the “Top 10 reasons Wiccans do NOT belive in Satan” was SO funny - and of course so true!!
I was pleasantly surprised by this article. I didn’t log in to see the comment mentioned above. But it was a relief not to feel outraged by a mainstream press article about Wicca or nature based religions.
For it is just about time that ppl get to know who we are.
We are just normal everyday ppl , for we are not what they may think we are .
If they would take time to get to know us they just may like us just as friends plus we just might be able to help out with something who knows.

I realize that Wicca is a recognized religion all over,the usa!Plus!
And we understand it well,but there really has been misconceptions about it,throughout the world!Even though we will answer any questions any one asks,still we don’t puish our religion on anyone!But a lot of religions do!People are sometimes surprised that our religion doesn’t!maybe they think we must be keeping secrets!
Maybe that is why you see these stories so much!Because instead of just asking questions they just assume and gossip about us!
