Yeah, I know, I hate these things too. However, if it helps any, you may rest assured that there is nothing in here about the shenanigans of Britney Spears and her sister, Paris Hilton, or any Spice Girl. What it does have, however, is a look at some of the stories that made headlines in the Pagan and Wiccan news world over the past twelve months.
The Veteran's Pentacle Quest became a reality instead of just a dream. Thanks to Roberta Stewart, widow of slain Army Sgt. Patrick Stewart, the folks at Circle Sanctuary, and the thousands of people who wrote letters of support, the VA finally approved the use of the pentacle on the headstones of fallen Wiccan soldiers. Roberta was rebuffed by the Bush administration, which later issued an apology.
Pottermania took the world by storm once again. As if it wasn’t cool enough to have an upcoming theme park, the seventh and final installment of the series released in July, as well as the fifth movie, then J.K. Rowling really stirred things up when she announced that Headmaster Albus Dumbledore is gay.
Some interesting cases regarding whether or not Tarot readings and other spiritual services can be regulated popped up in New Port Richey, Florida, and in Casper, Wyoming. Michigan added fortune-telling to the statewide list of taxable services. Up in Salem, the witch-wars really got going after a discussion about the licensing of psychics when a local HPs was charged with leaving raccoon parts on a competitor's doorstep, and a witness' apartment was ransacked.
Stay tuned for more end-of-year hilarity!
