Shekhinah Mountainwater Crosses Over

By August 13, 2007

Follow me on:

Shekhinah Mountainwater, one of the founding members of the Womenspirit movement, has crossed over the veil after a couragous two-year battle with cancer. She was the author of Ariadne's Thread and a priestess of Aphrodite. An ardent feminist, Shekhinah was a teacher of goddess-based spirituality to countless numbers of seekers. Her final rites were performed by Z Budapest last week, and Shekhinah finally said farewell on Saturday, August 11, 2007. Our thoughts are with everyone from the Moonspell community.

Beloved Shekhinah was an extrordinary woman; her book, “Ariadne’s Thread”, as luminous and wonderful as it is, was just the beginning. Those of us who knew her saw her as loving, compassionate, nurturing, giving, rigorous, scholarly and EXTREMELY loving. She was a true priestess, and I will always cherish the time that we enjoyed knowing each other during these our shared lifetimes. I miss her active presence terribly. *sigh*
